City of Laredo Annual Legislative Trip to Washington, D.C.

March 9- City of Laredo elected officials, staff, and members from the higher education and private sectors traveled to Washington, D.C. where they met with Members of Congress and various federal agencies to share the urgent needs for our community across multiple sectors, and having the federal government fully understand that our needs support the livelihood of the nation and North America as a whole is important as they develop and allocate their grant programs, appropriations, and budgets. 

Among key issues discussed were border security, infrastructure modernization, public health, expansion of trade, and more.

During their trip, the Laredo Delegation meetings included Sen. John Cornyn, Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Minority Leader of the U.S House of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, TxDOT, Department of Energy, and representatives of the Senate Committee of Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
