Varela has over 14 years of experience in trade and economic development and was most recently the CEO of the LEDC since April 2013.
“Olivia Varela has been an integral part of our local business community,” said Mayor Pete Saenz. “Through her leadership, Laredo entrepreneurs have been able to receive the guidance and support they need to be successful in business.
The LEDC has also provided invaluable support towards the development of our city and has helped to increase both the quantity and the quality of jobs and life for our residents. It is my privilege and honor to recognize such an outstanding citizen and business leader. We wish her the best during retirement.”
