Blue Duck Scooters launched with 200 available scooters for Laredoans to use as a transportation option around the city. This is the first company to partner with the City of Laredo under a six-month pilot program that the City Council approved in February.
During the Blue Duck’s launch Wednesday, June 5 at MileOne IBAC City of Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz said this was a big day in Laredo. “We been asking for connectivity, mobility and attraction as well-something fun”. In order to ride these scooters, users must download the Blue Duck app and register with an email address and credit card. The scooters costs $1, plus .25 cents per minute. They go up to 15 miles per hour and can go up to 18 miles on a full charge, according to the company.
