LAREDO COLLEGE TO OFFER BACHELORS DEGREES- The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission, an accreditation entity, approved the college’s application to become a Level 2 institution, which can award bachelor’s degrees, on June 13. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing will be the college’s first bachelor offered, and it will start its first cohort this fall.
The nursing department hopes to have 40 students in the first cohort, and the associate nursing program will bridge into the bachelor’s program so students can complete their bachelor in a year. Applications for the bachelor will open in July and are only open to those with an associate’s degree in nursing and a nursing license. In June, the Laredo College Associates Degree Nursing Program was recognized as the top Community College program out of 58 schools in Texas.
