Laredo Economic Development Corporation Announces Gene Lindgren as President and Chief Executive Officer

The Laredo Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gene Lindgren as LEDC President/CEO effective July 27, 2020. Lindgren brings over 33 years of experience from the manufacturing industry after completing a diverse and successful career with a leading global automotive supply company that operates in North America with more than 25 maquiladora plants throughout Mexico including distribution centers in El Paso and Laredo, Texas. “We welcome Gene as the new President/CEO and look forward to his leadership with the LEDC,” said Tony Arce, Jr., Chairman of the Board, LEDC. “Gene’s experience in manufacturing, logistics and technology will serve us well as overseas companies look to relocate to the Texas Mexican border.” Lindgren has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and an MBA from Lake Erie College in Ohio and has been a Laredo resident for nearly 20 years.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to work with business leaders and government officials to execute the steps necessary to expand our business profile and further improve our community’s vibrant economic and industrial climate,” Lindgren said. “I am passionate about my adopted home, and I will use all of my experience, drive, energy, and collaborative leadership skills to meet and exceed the expectations of the organization’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.”
Lindgren will receive transitional support from the previous President, Olivia Varela who graciously delayed her retirement to continue her leadership role as the organization and the community deals with the impacts of Covid-19, and also appreciate her valuable input as a member of the executive search committee for this position.
