On July 1st, the Laredo Economic Development Corporation presented the Cigarroa family with the Centurion Award initially announced at the 2021 Economic Development Industry (EDI) Awards, Boots ‘N Bling Gala on Friday, November 5, 2021.
“In addition to the members of the family currently practicing in the field of medicine, we want to again give tribute to the forebearers of the Cigarroa medical legacy including Dr. Leonides G. Cigarroa, Dr. Joaquin G. Cigarroa, Dr. Margaret Cigarroa, and Dr. Rebecca Cigarroa Uribe,” said Gene Lindgren, Laredo EDC President, and CEO during the unveiling ceremony at the Laredo Medical Center.
The EDI awards were created in 2018 by the Laredo EDC to recognize Laredo area industries, institutions, and/or individuals that have played a significant role and impact on the growth and betterment of our community. The Cigarroa family exemplifies the core value of service in the Medical and Health Industry represented by the EDI Award and this special Centurion Award.
The Laredo EDC is honored and proud to recognize again the Cigarroa family tradition and continuing legacy of caring and healing for our South Texas community.
