The Rio Grande Information Study Center hosted a meeting with students, and faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Design at the LEDC offices to capture private sector perspectives.
The purpose of the visit was to provide business landscape and development information to the students as they are researching information as part of a case study for water security, hydrology, wastewater, land use and planning, and climate resiliency and adaptation, and will ultimately return to present findings and recommendations.
The students will use cutting-edge environmental restoration and sustainability tools to construct a plan for Laredo that will enhance water security while restoring natural systems and habitat, generate income as an aspect of restoration, reduce heat island effects, increase flood management and control options, and provide a suite of new job opportunities.
