Recently, Home Goods, At Home, DD’s Discount (2nd location), Ross Dress for Less (3rd location), and Burlington (2nd location) have recently opened up. These stores along with all the other retail stores are continually trying to attract visitors from Monterrey and Mexico City. Daily, thousands of visitors from Mexico flock to Laredo to buy clothing and electronics and half the price of what it would cost them in Mexico.
The Port of Laredo is the number 1 inland port along the US-Mexico border crossing over $248.5 billion in imports and exports in 2021. With IH-35 bisecting the city, all the industrial parks and logistical centers are within 5 miles.

The Laredo Economic Development Corporation is proud to present the virtual edition of the 29th Pathways for Trade The North American Logistics and Manufacturing Symposium in Laredo, Texas, Wednesday, September 22, 2022.
This year’s theme is “Port Laredo Trade with the World” We are expecting experts from our top trade partners such as Canada, China France, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, and others to provide insight on the progress of their country’s trade with Texas and North America as well as discuss the potential future of our country’s partnerships.
The Laredo EDC created the Economic Development Industry (EDI) Award to recognize industries that contribute to the economic well-being of the Laredo and Webb County region.
The EDI recognition complements the mission of the Laredo EDC to promote and foster the economic and industrial development of the Laredo region.
Continuing with a tradition of honoring and thanking an important sector of our community and industry of Los Dos Laredos, Laredo EDC in partnership with Secretaria de Desarrollo Economico de Nuevo Laredo, created the Laredos Dia de la Maquiladora.
This annual event recognizes the industry for its commitment and contribution to the economic development and growth of our region.
